Same household,
six prices.
Lowest bundle $355 a month
Highest bundle $479 a month
Re-shopped at every renewal
Six carriers,
quoted the same week.
Home, auto and the multi-policy discount side by side, plus the bundle each one adds up to, so a cheap auto price cannot hide an expensive home policy.

Example premiums for illustration, not quotes or offers of coverage. Carriers are described by type and are fictional. Monthly figures assume an annual home policy and a six-month auto policy paid monthly; your price depends on your address, home, vehicles, drivers, claims history and each carrier’s underwriting.
Six things that
move your premium.
Two neighbors can call on the same morning and hear different prices. These are the reasons, in the order they usually matter in Iowa.
Your roof
Age and material drive most of the home price here. A roof over 15 years old can mean a higher wind and hail deductible or a carrier that will not write it.
Claims history
Carriers read five years of claims on the house and on you. Two small claims can cost more than one large one.
Drivers and cars
Ages, tickets, accidents and the cars themselves. A teen driver can raise an auto premium more than any other single change.
Deductibles
A higher deductible lowers the premium. Every quote we send shows how many claim-free years it takes to break even.
Insurance score
Where state law allows, carriers use a credit-based insurance score. Checking it is a soft inquiry that never lowers your credit.
Bundling
Home and auto with the same carrier often saves 10% to 25%, but not always. We price both ways before you pick.
One deductible,
two prices.
Raising the home deductible from $1,000 to $2,500 lowers the premium every year, and costs you $1,500 more the year you have a claim. Whether it pays off depends on how often you claim, so we show the break-even next to every quote.

3.4 years
Example figures for a $350,000 home with the regional mutual, not a quote. The break-even counts claim-free years, ignores the time value of money and assumes no more than one claim.
Carriers.
We are appointed with fourteen of them. Here is how one earns a place on a quote we send you.
Rated A- or better
We quote carriers with an A- or better financial strength rating from an independent rating agency, so the company can pay a large claim in a bad storm year.
Claims we have watched
We keep notes on how every carrier handles our clients’ claims: how fast the adjuster calls and how fair the estimate is. Slow payers drop off our list.
An appetite that fits
Each carrier wants certain risks: older homes, new drivers, acreages, restaurants. We send your details only to the ones that want what you have.

Example premiums are a starting point. A ten-minute call and your declarations pages turn them into written quotes you can bind.
Quotes are free, with no obligation. A quote is not a binder or an offer of coverage; every policy is subject to the carrier’s underwriting, terms and exclusions. Stellhorn & Kettner is a demo agency, Iowa license # 0000000 (demo).
